I was going through my morning routine which includes browsing the "other site" and saw this pic...Check out the name across the front end. Did ford do this to all police explorers or was that just a cool addition by the engineers during testing?

I don't think I've ever seen an explorerceptor out in the field like that.

It does look cool. I have never seen one of those other than the picture you posted, but I figured they will all say INTERCEPTOR . However, those wheels look small for some reason.

...and just like that, it became Ford Individual Hood Letters Acronym Time. Or it would, if I were near one.

I can tell you that all "official" Ford imagery for the Police Utility Vehicle (as they refer to it internally) doesn't say that across the hood, in fact it doesn't say Explorer across the hood either.
Looks cool though!

I seen an Explorer with this yesterday and it caught my eye as well. It very well could have been a police car as I work a block from the state capital but I did not pay 100% attention.
Edit: Probably caught my eye at first because I thought it was a Land Rover in my peripheral vision.

If you could buy a factory lowered Explorer with those wheels and the Eco-Tech engine, It would seriously be a vehicle I would consider buying.

It's called an Explorer Sport. Sold 5 of them so far this year, and they are a hoot to drive. Also, the EcoBoost 3.5L Explorers get the badgeing across the hood, everyone.

Now make an INTERRAPTOR.
